EYES ON: Frigates, Tech 1 Amarr

 Tech 1 Frigates

Amarr

Some of the most beautiful ships in New Eden are made by the Amarrian Empire. Heavily armor tanked, favoring Energy Weapons, drones and sleek golden lines, they are some of the toughest, albeit slowest, ships.

Crucifier: EWAR

A ship with strong bonuses to Tracking Disruptors and Missile Guidance Disruptors, but no direct combat bonus. While not much of a threat on their own, their EWAR is long ranged, and more than able to neutralize a ships damage application. Almost exclusively armor tanked and seen in fleets or gangs. A few variants do exist for scram-kiting but rarely, and mostly in FW novice plexes. By special snowflakes. Like me.

Executioner: Tackle/Kiting

A fast frigate with good speed, but light tank. Due to the prop jamming capacitor bonus, they can effectively use Warp Disruptors without suffering on their cap usage, so it's quite common to see kiting variants of this with either T2 pulse lasers and Scorch ammo, or beams. Kiting fits are usually either tanked with an Ancillary Armor Repairer or a Medium Shield Extender. Some fits go for a Warp Scrambler and Stasis Webifier, producing a solid little scram-kiter. Seen in gangs or solo all across New Eden, they're a solid choice for a tackle frigate, and a good stepping stone to the Imperial Navy Slicer.

Inquisitor: Logistics

A small brick with welders strapped to it, the Inquisitor is made to repair other armor tanked ships. It does this well, in addition to attracting lots of enemy fire, as well as Minmatar copyright infringement complaints. A single Inquisitor can keep a small frigate gang alive for a long time, and should be your highest priority target if you see one. The best counter to one is Energy Neutralizers, as the remote repairers are very cap hungry, and the repairs will stop when the cap is gone. The reps are short ranged however, and if you push them more than 15km from their target, they rapidly drop off in effectiveness.

Magnate: Exploration

A scanning and exploration frigate intended for hacking data/relic sites. A rather versatile frigate, with 15mb of drone bandwidth, lots of mid slots, and a scanning bonus. With all the mids, and a large drone bay, can be a fairly good control frigate, despite not having any combat bonuses. Commonly seen in that capacity with an Ancillary Armor Repairer tank, scram and webs, and some combination of turrets and Energy Neutralizers. Not a massive threat, but not harmless either. Arguably one of the prettiest ships in the game, with some of the best skins. They also have a role as a hauler, since with cargo rigs and expanders their capacity can be well over 1000m3 of cargohold.

Punisher: Brawling

Probably bait. Highest effective hit points of any T1 frigate in the game, even higher than some cruisers. 5 low slots, and an armor resistance bonus, so always armor tanked. No damage bonus, which makes autocannons attractive for armament due to no cap use. Also painfully slow, but it's amazing at keeping a target on grid until backup shows up. Occasionally seen with no prop, and a cap stable dual rep fit, it's still probably bait, much like it's big brother the Maller cruiser.

Tormentor: Brawling/Scram-kiting

A well rounded (pun intended) combat frigate, this ship has surprisingly high damage and projection coupled with good speed for an Amarrian ship. Usually armor tanked, and fairly durable with an AAR + Plate fit, they excel at projecting EM and Thermal damage past scram range. The main downside is the cap use of their weapons, thus making the choice between a web and a cap booster a tough one. Only Amarrian frigate to use drones, and a good stepping stone to the Dragoon destroyer, and Arbitrator cruiser.
